How maintain your clippers

As a barber, your best tool is your clipper. A good quality pair of hair clippers will last  for years if you take care of them properly. We see 15-20 customers on a daily basis, and we always make sure to clean our clippers before and after every client.  Its important to have proper clipper maintenance and blade honing by a professional.

Here are some of the tips from our Master Grooming Attendant:

  • Use a small brush to clean loose hairs from the clipper blades before use. You do not want to touch someone’s hair with dirt and debris on your clipper blades.

  • Ensure that when you install the blade, it is correctly gapped making sure that they don't irritate your clients skin. You also want to make sure that you have total clipper control, this comes with practice and time behind the chair.

  • After every cut, make sure to oil the blade and disinfect! If you do not oil the clipper, they may bog down and cause poor performance.

  • Make sure to use clipper spray to keep the blades cool and prevent burning your client. This also disinfects the blade.

  • If your clipper blades gets dull, it is time to change it to a new one!
